"New research shows that listening to music can lift (or reinforce) your mood and ultimately lead to greater quality of life." - Healthline
Personally, I constantly listen to music and there's rarely a moment when I don't have at least one headphone in. Music is very influential, especially when it comes to our emotions and mood. You may have experienced the feelings any certain song can bring to you, most of the time this happens if you can relate to the lyrics, remember a specific event or time the song was played that was meaningful to you, or even just develop a fondness for that particular song itself. Music is meant to make you feel something, and if the artist has successfully done that, then they are obviously doing something right.
University of Missouri scientists have conducted studies around this topic and found that people's moods were positively affected by upbeat music. Also, they found that sad music can be therapeutic if you've experienced something traumatic or negative, but can also put you in a bad mood for no reason or if the song brings back bad memories.
